So as promised, here is my review on Michael Todd's True Organic (MTTO) Sensitive Skin Regimen. A short preface before the review. This is my first "high-end" skin care regimen, and the only organic skin care I've used (and they list the ingredients to prove how well-made it is!). Previously, I used drugstore products, like Olay and general brand products. I first purchased MTTO in October 2012 (same regimen) and fell in love with it because my skin was going a little crazy. My cheeks were super dry while my T-Zone was super oily, the pores of my nose were always clogged up, and I was getting scars from drug store products I tested and hormonal acne. So, I'm super grateful to MTTO for making this line and it has only gotten better with their recently new addition. Now, onto the review!
1.) Honey and Oat Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser
This by far is my favorite cleanser and is the main reason why my nose pores are so clear (as well as the rest of my face). As I said before, my white heads would run rampant with my other skincare, but this one does the job. It also has more nonionic surfactants, so you can use it over your eyes without tears (due to habit I take off my eye-makeup with coconut oil but this makes sure the job is done). With foundation, I do sometimes have some left over after washing with this, but the toner gets rid of it all, so I don't worry too much about it.
2.) Charcoal Detoxifying Facial Mask
This mask is one of the best parts to this regimen. When I first purchased the regimen (without the facial serum), this mask helped my skin get used to the products (especially since I didn't know how much to use of the toner). It is calming and it is a gray liquid formula. It doesn't dry hard like a clay mask or tight like an egg mask. I use this at least once a week, but they recommend to not use it more than twice per week. All you need is apply a thin layer, do something for 10-15 min to let it do its magic, and wash it off to have nice, soft skin.
3.) Blue Green Algae Antibacterial Toner
This toner helped me believe in toners again. I used to use witch hazel (I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT) and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. This toner works all the time. And a LITTLE goes a long way (I think this is a theme of the regimen). You just put it on a cotton pad and wipe over your face ONCE! I say once because, before the serum was included in the regimen, this toner would burn a little over the places that I either rubbed hard or passed twice (the tops of my cheeks and my nose). This only happened when I first started or when I went a long time without using the regimen. It is antibacterial, so I'm sure it was part of it too. But I don't have this issue anymore (I ran out of the products a few weeks before re-purchasing), and I know its because of the facial serum. To redeem the toner, it does it's job and picks up dirt, and I like using an antibacterial toner because I feel like my face it truly clean (and its 97% organic so no horrible chemicals, just natural liquids).
4.) Intensive Organic Cream Eye Treatment
This is a nice eye cream for those who don't really use eye creams (like me). Being in school, I was surviving on little sleep and my eyes needed some love. This cream gives that moisture but it isn't oily. My skin soaks it right up, but my eyes don't feel dry at all. I really like it.
5.) Hydration Boost Facial Serum
This is one of my favorite products of this whole regimen. A little goes a LONG way and I really like it. It reminds me of one of my past favorite skin moisturizer called Hard Day's Night by Biore SkinPreservation (sadly discontinued). It doesn't leave a gel-like finish; it soaks into my skin better than HDN. The one thing though is that I only use this at night, because during the day it can leave my skin a little more oily (mostly under my bangs on my forehead). But this serum works wonders and it is the main reason why my "acne scars" are going away.
6.) Citrus Cream Moisturizer DMAE and Hyaluronic Acid
Sadly, this has been my least favorite out of the whole regimen but it is growing on me. The formula before wasn't as smooth as it is now, and now it goes into my skin better. It works well as a moisturizer and I don't have to use much of it. I personally just wished it had something more, like SPF. Other than that, this moisturizer will do.
I use this line for both my day and night skincare regimen. Here is a picture of the products (except the mask and toner) and the amount I use daily.
I love this line! My oily eyelids are gone, my acne and clogged pores are gone and my scaring was almost completely faded within about a week of using this. Everything smells good to me (very citrus-y) and as I have said before, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. My combination skin is mostly gone now and my face is balanced again. The packaging is nice and purple (my favorite color). The pumps on the moistuzier and serum sometimes give me trouble, but that's fine because it prevents me from overusing the product. MTTO has great, quick customer service, and they have plenty of sales. If you want to try it out, I highly recommend buying their travel-size sets to test it out first. Good luck and enjoy!
